Our Story
1967
Originally established in 1967 by Dan LaVine (aka “Huck”), LaVine’s Ice was born. We started producing ice with commercial ice makers, offering 7# and 20# bags of cubed ice, 10# blocks, as well as 50# bags of cubed ice. We started delivering to area Sturgeon Bay & Door County businesses.
1971
Demand grew over the first few years, and in 1971 we increased our production size and customer base, creating a new name to reflect our growth — becoming Door County Ice. We continued with that name, and continued doing business until the year 2000.
2000
In 2000, Huck was ready to start slowing down and with lack of a local successor to take over the business, he made the hard decision to sell Door County Ice to a larger ice firm. The idea was that they would still supply and maintain good relationships and customer service with the clients (and eventually friends) that had been with Huck from the beginning. Keeping his clients happy was always his number one priority.
2008
Huck started to get many pervious customers stopping in at The Wine Cellar (also his business) asking if Door County ice would ever come back. They would tell him the costumer service from when it was Door County Ice was the best they ever had. So in April, Huck asked his son Teddy if he would be interested in starting the ice business back up once again. After a few discussions and planning meetings, Teddy made the decision to jump in and revitalize the ice business using the original name – LaVine’s Ice.
Now
After Teddy brought LaVine’s Ice back to life back in 2008 (with 16 loyal customers), he has grown the company to over 200 satisfied clients, and it continues growing every year! Give us a call to join our happy list of customers and get on board!
What We Offer
We offer wholesale Cubed Ice in 7#, 20# and 50# bags, as well as in 10# blocks – with a regular route delivery. We rent Merchandiser Ice Machines if you do not own your own.
Our client list includes grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, bars, restaurants, campgrounds, marinas, charter fishing companies, food trucks and more!
We also supply Special Events such as fairs, festivals, weddings, large parties and gatherings such as graduation parties, birthday parties, family reunions – any special event where you would require a larger amount of ice and machines.
LaVine’s Ice serves Door, Kewaunee, Brown, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan Counties. But, we are not limited to just these counties!
